Telecommunication Technician

Job Responsibilities

Most of the work is carried out with tight deadlines and well-defined milestones for the delivery of project objectives.
Under guidance of senior site engineers(s), a technician performs all aspects of the installation and troubleshooting of telecommunication equipment - Telecommunications, Information Technology, Radio, Physical Security and Control Systems domains:
- Voice, Data Networking, Network Security, Network Infrastructures and Protocols, Computer hardware and software systems, Operating Systems, Programming languages, Office software, Domain and Database Systems, etc.;
- Radio HF-VHF-UHF, low and high RF power systems, Marineband, Air-band, Conventional, Digital, Microwave, etc.;
- Marine sensors as radar, direction finders, long range cameras, AIS, Inmarsat, Navtex
- CCTV, ACS, PLC, etc.
Ensures high quality installation, maintenance, and operation/performance of the Systems listed above
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
Maintain accurate records for each job performed
Adhere to safety procedures when performing work tasks
Provide technical support on various projects.
Reporting: Functional reporting to the Site Project Manager and to the Project Engineering Manager.

Job Requirements

A diploma in telecommunications, electronic engineering, computer science, physics, I.T. or another technical subject
At least three (3) year of experience related to constructing, configuring, integrating and testing telecommunications equipment
Able to demonstrate troubleshooting skills
Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
Ability to explain problems simply and clearly
Ability to follow health and safety regulations
Possesses valid driver's Class 3 license
Able to use a Windows based PC to organize work, generate records and reports, and configure equipment
Language: good command of written and spoken English is required
